Kuwait M.O. Higher Education: Just a Reminder

I read this headline in today’s newspaper [link], and I  don’t know why I thought it would be funny to mention that I’m still waiting for the MOHE’s approval of my own college grades. Even though I’ve already had their official (albeit currently lost) equivalency letter from my college in London, and so was only really looking for a duplicate copy.

I made the proper request (including a personal appearance) back in July of last year (a very good 6-7 months ago), but my certificate’s equivalency is still pending according to the ministry.

What do you think? Does it really take more than half a year to validate anything from a civilized place like London? What do you think the time frame should be for less-civilized places like India & the Philippines?

My personal opinion is that India (the Philippines and the Moon) all have a shorter approval and validation period than my London thing.

Then again, I could be wrong, and that the ministry people could be doing their best (and damn fastest) to finish everyone’s requests. It doesn’t really matter. All I know is that thank God I don’t need my certificate any time soon. Other people might not be so lucky.

la don’t worry…. What I understand is, these days, you have to get the ministry’s written pre-approval of the university, even etha enta 3ala 7sab ahallek.

3ala ayyamna, as private students, we don’t need anything from the MHE.

And alf mabrrok, and super congrats… A double major, wow mashalla!!

My case is a bit different. I actually have their mo3adala years ago, and I admit, that process took 7 months to finish. I never really cared, coz thank god I didn’t have to deal with their bureaucracy. I wasn’t on scholarship and I didn’t have to work in the government sector.

But it is still quite silly for them not to be able to give me mo3adalat elgrades, even after 7 months so far. That is just silly, and plain lazy from their sides.

I understand the MOHE services are not up to the public expectation. It has a load of work beyond its capacity and many MOHE staff works very hard to serve the public but there are issues beyond the MOHE jurisdiction.
With respect to diplomas from the countries mentioned on the add this is the starting process and does not mean that MOHE will issue an equivalency for each diploma. I was hoping for you to come and see me to get the help needed before making any judgment with respect to equivalency issues.
My office is open to the public on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 7 – 8 am and on other time by appointment.

Thank you for the reply, that was very nice of you :)

I’ve got my equivalency, I just need to the grades papers. Apparently, this is a new process that wasn’t there when I graduated.

But still, I made the application last July, so it should have finished by then.

I will pass by during your open office hours, and get this sorted out.

Thank you again for taking the time to reply :)

Finally after 1 year of running around, I got my equivalency. Sad that it had to be that way. Hope that MOHE will improve their services to citizens in the future.
