A don’t drink and drive scary video. I imagine this could be something our new traffic director would like to do. Instill fear in people. Or scare them dead. Either way works fine.
Ever since AbdulFattah Al-Ali got appointed as the new Traffic director a few weeks ago, he’s been trying his best to make people know he’ll be very tough on crime and on offenders. He’ll be watching you via 24\7 super zoom cameras, he’ll deport you if you break a traffic law, and you bet he won’t play with any was6a requests.
The Traffic Department has already collected more than KD4 million of late traffic fines, issued 30,000 new ones in just one weekend, and impounded more than 5,000 (again, in just a single weekend).
Considering all this drama, whatsapp was bound to fill with jokes. These are just a few of what’s circulating on social media.
Let’s hope Al-Ali has a great sense of humor and won’t get me in trouble for posting these. Talk about paranoia.
The new traffic cameras have super zooms and take very clear pictures of drivers and license plates. They can zoom in on someone and see if they’re talking on the phone, not wearing the seatbelt, double parking an exit, and pretty much everything else too. A picture of the plates and the driver is then taken to the fines department to issue the traffic ticket.
Here’s an example of a car double parked blocking the exit on one of the highways. It’s a sight we see everyday, people cutting you off and beating you to the turn.
Here’s another example of an illegal parking. Again, it shows the power of the new cameras. In this particular case, the camera is way away across the other side of the road, yet it still can zoom on the driver and the license plates and take very clear pictures.
Theses cameras will be working overtime, even though I don’t think we have enough man power to manage them all. That’s why I think they’ll focus (in the beginning) on highly trafficked roads like the 4th and 5th, gazalli and airport road.
Since we have a new very zealous traffic director who wants to leave his mark, it’s best not to break any laws. It’s not worth paying the tough fines or risking your license or car taken away.
Finally, this is how the traffic fine looks like in the end. Very hard to object to evidence like this.
Kuwait has a new Traffic Dept. director. AbdulFatah Al-Ali is on a mission to clean up the streets of Kuwait. Here are some of his recent suggestions (all effective immediately):
Foreign nationals who violate severe traffic laws will be deported. They get three chances, then they are deported on the 4th. The offenses are of the grave and dangerous kind; so we’re probably talking about running a red light, driving the wrong way, or driving under the influence. Since the offenders won’t be allowed back in the country, they’ll be given a chance to get a Power of Attorney in place before they’re deported.
Underage drivers will be taken to Traffic court, along with their parents and the owners of the driven cars. Unlike before where underage kids were just driven back to their home, and parents were given verbal warning. Yikes, talk about growing pains.
Immediate deporting of any foreigner caught driving without a license or illegally carrying passengers, Kuwaitis will be taken to court instead. This point will be a major blow to domestic drivers, it might teach them to stop ferrying people around in our cars.
Another focus area are mechanics who test drive cars without a license, they too will be deported.
These new resolutions sound harsh and extreme, but in all honesty, they may be just want we need to win the crazy war raging on our roads [link].
This camel is too cute for words. I wonder where I can find one like it. The ones we have in our region are either slaughtered for food, or are hard core murderers of people (through vehicular accidents).
A camel this cute is unheard of. Maybe NBK should commission it as it’s official mascot.
MindDRive is an after school club that targets at risk teens in the States. As part of the teachers’ efforts to engage high school students in safe after school activities, the MindDrive project makes a realistic plan of using social media power. Students take an old beat up car and transform it completely into a functioning automobile. The unique part of this car restoration process is that fact that it’s fueled by social media coverage.
The car is literally fueled by an electric battery that runs on the collective and cumulative power of social media. It turns Facebook likes, tweets and retweets, and instagram likes into real battery juice. The club plans to drive all the way from Kansas City to Washington City, and need the following power from various social media venues:
This truly is one of the best ways i’ve seen teenagers use social media. Ever.
Rolls Royce has come up with a brand new coupe called Wraith. The car is very beautiful, one of the best looking cars out there. It’s probably one of the best looking coupes out there to be honest. It’s breathtaking, eye catchy, and absolutely stunning.
The Wraith was announced this year, with deliveries expected this Sept. It’s a 4 seat coup, so that makes the price a bit easier to swallow than if it was just a two seater. I know that’s a silly thought.
I haven’t checked its price cause it obviously a car I’m never going to buy. Unless I win a mega lottery or something.
Update: There seems to be a little confusion about these fines. Item 7 says something about Jordan, which suggests that these fines aren’t really for Kuwait. I don’t understand how that can be, the source (website) belongs to the M.O. Health in Kuwait, particularly the department of accident prevention. It’s an official governmental site. Shame on them if this is a blunder. I should’ve figured something was off, because as far as I know there’s no definite fine for DUI of alcohol.
These are Kuwait’s new traffic fines. The new fines are hefty, ranging from KD 30 for an illegal parking fine to KD 500 for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
This is one of the sweetest videos I’ve seer seen. You really got to love the US. A group of high school students invented and built a device that allows a paralyzed kitten to walk and run. Can you imagine our kids doing something similar? All they know to do is taunt and bully, and be lazy.
Anyways, seeing this little kitten run and skid is super adorable, it’s downright wonderful.
