Reminder: NBK’s annual walkathon in 10 days

wpid-20130227_171530.jpg

Just to remind you about NBK’s annual walkathon. This year it’s on Saturday March 23rd, and registration is open till Thursday March 21st.

It’s basically a walking race with 4 age categories each for men, women, and children. The distance is 6 kms for women, and 8 kms for men. Kids will have fun and sporting activities, plus the race itself, in the Green Island.

Registration is held at NBK’s tent just before The Scientific Center in Salmiya. It’s one of the biggest sporting events in Kuwait, and is usually a very fun and exciting day.

Registration for NBK’s annual Walkathon now open

Registration for NBK’s annual is now open, the tent is set up just before The Scientific Center on Gulf Rd. The race is on March 23rd, which I think is not a good date because: 1. It will be too hot, and 2. They might postpone it if the weather is bad on that date. Anyways, the race is fun for the whole family. It’s one of those fun exciting and different days, plus you might win exciting gifts. So go register now and participate.

Respect: Sign language at the Super Bowl

John Maucere performed a sign langage translation of Alecia Keys’ national anthem show at yesterday’s SuperBowl. I don’t know if all this was sign language, but he sure added a lot of awe to the translation. Respect. And btw, he’s deaf too. So double Respect.

Forget about all the players, the commercials, the Beyoncé, because John Maucere is already the best part of the Super Bowl. Maucere was on hand to sign the songs “America, The Beautiful” and “The Star-Spangled Banner” with more emotion than Jennifer HudsonAlicia Keys, and the Sandy Hook Elementary School Choir, combined. With a flair for high-drama comedy that only a bona fide Steve Carrelldoppleganger could muster, Maucere ushered in the patriotic tunes with the bounce and beauty of a North Dakota-based community theater troupe. And it was glorious [link].

Real Madrid loses because of Cristiano Ronaldo’s own team goal

Real Madrid lost to weaker Granada because of a self goal scored by top soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo. Hmm, Messi looks more and more like the bigger star.

Watch all the Superbowl’s commercials here

Even before this commercial ended, I knew it was about the new Blackberry. Nice commercial despite its slight predictability.

This is the Samsung commercial, where you’re not allowed to say the words “SuperBowl”, “49ers”, or the “Ravens”. Lame, but I loved Seth Rugen and Paud Rudd.

Bar Refaelis and a nerd, enough said. But this was very awkward to watch in front of kids.

Coke’s chase commercial was semi offensive to Arabs, they had a huge week long debate over it here in the States. There are two versions of the commercial, the one shown above (which is actually very pro-Arab) where the Bedouin wins the race.

It was the other commercial (the one below) that bothered people, because the Bedouin came out as a loser even before the race begins (his camel(s) stubbornly refused to move). I found this one more entertaining, and actually very funny to watch. It’s got Mad Max, cowboys, and Prescilla queen of the desert all together in one place.

Click [here] of you want to watch all the SuperBowl commercials. Fair warning: they weren’t that great this year.

Pics & Video: Beyonce’s halftime SuperBowl show

Beyonce rocked it real good during the SuperBowl’s halftime show in New Orleans today, and was joined on stage with the rest of Destiny’s Child group. And what a performance that was.

Beyonce and DC sang a medley of her and their most popular songs, busted some major dance moves, and did a whole lot of shaking. Though it was a great show, it doesn’t come close to Madonna’s amazing halftime performance last year. That was just plain awesome!
