Promoted tweets are the ones that come with an orange arrow and the word promoted. You can stop getting them by following the simple instructions in the above picture. This will stop getting further tweets from this promoter.

You can also do the same on your phone. Just hold\press down on the tweet till the commands line appears (the one with reply, quote, favorite…etc.), and then click the X to get rid of the promoted tweet.

Live tweet from Samsung Executive VP San Francisco plane crash

I don’t think anyone would’ve believed this tweet if you saw it on your timeline, it’s just so unexpected and farfetched.

David Eun is Samsung’s Executive VP, and he was on the plane that crash landed in San Francisco yesterday. He tweeted this just as he was evacuated from the burning plane. Absolutely unbelievable tweet.

Hillary Clinton finally joins Twitter

Hillary Clinton joins twitter first tweet

Check out her first tweet. So badass. “I’ll take it from here”. It’s right up there with the Terminator’s “I’ll be back”. And will you check out President Clinton’s shout out to her?! That’s pretty awesome too!

The guy and gal she’s thanking were the ones who created the hilarious Texts From Hillary on tumblr. Former US First Lady\Former Secretary of State\Former Senator got a healthy sense of humor.

The Social Media car

MindDrive highschool kids club

MindDRive is an after school club that targets at risk teens in the States. As part of the teachers’ efforts to engage high school students in safe after school activities, the MindDrive project makes a realistic plan of using social media power. Students take an old beat up car and transform it completely into a functioning automobile. The unique part of this car restoration process is that fact that it’s fueled by social media coverage.

The car is literally fueled by an electric battery that runs on the collective and cumulative power of social media. It turns Facebook likes, tweets and retweets, and instagram likes into real battery juice. The club plans to drive all the way from Kansas City to Washington City, and need the following power from various social media venues:

This truly is one of the best ways i’ve seen teenagers use social media. Ever.

Kuwait posts red traffic light violators on Twitter

If you want to know who crossed which traffic light, where and when they did it, their car number or name; then all you have to do is go to this new twitter account to find all that out. The account recalls a lot of violators, from way back in ’06-’07 to this day. This is the link @KWTrafficViolMon if you want to spy (or pry) on these poor people.

Obviously, this is a huge infringement of people’s privacy, and the M.O.Interior can be easily sued by anyone they ever tweeted about. That what makes me unsure if this really is an official M.O.Interior account or not. The account can easily belong to someone who’ve had a family member get hurt, or even die, from a traffic light crossing; and so they want to raise public awareness to this dangerous and stupid violation.

Update: The M.O.Interior denies any relations to this fake twitter account:

Update 2: This hack thing is more serious than we thought, click [here] to find out.

MBC chairman joins Twitter وليد الإبراهيم يدخل عالم تويتر

The chairman of MBC group, Waleed Al-Ibrahim, has finally joined the world of Twitter. I’m not sure if this is his real account, because it’s still not a verified one, but it does seem to be real.

As owner of all MBC channels, including Al-Arabiya News, he is considered to be one of the most influential Arabs in the world.

Twitter Slightly Redesigns Its Logo

The main change in Twitter’s new logo is that the little birdie had a haircut, and is now bald. They also say that the new logo is made up of three interloping circles,  to signify harmony or something like that. But seriously, apart from the haircut, the new logo looks pretty much like the old one.

Twitter Officially Available in Arabic

Twitter just announced on their blog that they now officially have Twitter in Arabic, in addition to three other right-to-left languages: Hebrew, Urdo and Farsi.

This would be the first time Twitter has supported right-to-left writing. Let’s hope now that it’s official, things will actually look different than how we normally read everyday.  I think maybe question marks and hashtags will work better with this new language support.
