Karl Lagerfeld designing an entire island in Dubai

Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel’s main designer, is designing an entire island in Dubai.

And get this, it’s called Isla Moda!!

It will include lusury hotels, villas, spas, shopping centers, lounges and much more.

The project is set to be completed in 2014.

I really wana go there

I had posted before about Desert Islands inAbu Dhabi. I wanted to go there for a short weekend. They’ve got a lot of water sports over there like kayaking and canoeing, and I was sold from the minute I saw the first ad.

Now, I feel stressed because I can’t seem to be able to take a few days off to go check out the place. And they had to add planes to the matter, and a 3rd night free promotion.

No need Bani Yas Islands, I so want to go there, like right now, this weekend!

I love Canoeing & Kayaking

I’ve always loved canoeing and kayaking. Whether I’m alone or with a friend, it’s always fun and exercising. I don’t get to do it much in Kuwait because of the weather. It’s either too sunny, sea is too wavy, or both at the same time.

I was thinking of taking a few days off during this week or the next. And when I saw this ad, I have to admit, I got a little excited.

I’m going to check out the website, and see if the water and weather are good as they appear in the pics. And maybe, just maybe, Bin Yas Island would be my next destination.

Where I’m staying in Bora Bora

The St. Regis in Bora Bora is where I’m staying if I ever go to Bora Bora. The place looks absolutely amazing, the water is heaven, and the combination of mountain\beach is going to be fun.

Places I want to go to

Kuwait towers are Liberations towers now?!

Fox series has a weekly arabic tourisim competition, and this week it’s about Kuwait.

What’s funny is that they’re asking where Abraj elta7reer are, but they’re really mean is abraj elkwait. And Failaka island has become failakat island… Shouldn’t they have better researchers?

What’s next? Where’s the green palace mathlan, bidal elqasr ela7mar?

Kuwait Coral Reefs are dyeing

Kuwait Dive Team has stated that 90 % of the coral reefs around our Kuwaiti islands have died. They still don’t know what the cause is, it might be human or it might be natural. The reefs have started to turn white, as if someone bleached them; and some dead fish were floating on top or in the reefs.

This is very sad. Going to the islands, and snorkeling or scuba diving around the reefs and fish is one of the my favorite activities in the whole world.

Let’s hope the authorities start their investigation soon, and that the reefs are not dead just sick.

The picture on the left is of the healthy reefs in Kubbar last year, and the one on the right is of the dead bleached reefs Kuwait dive Team have observed this year.

Where to take your friends when they visit Kuwait

My last post was about where to take your visiting friends for food and drink in Kuwait. Well, this post will be how to entertain them during their visit. It’ll be mostly about chale time and beach activities, seeing that we’re still in summer time.

These are some of my most favorite things in the whole world, here goes:

  • A boat trip to Kubbar or Garouh Islands for some snorkeling or scuba diving is a must. The water there is just amazing.
  • Pick a day where the tide is high at noon and lounge for hours on the sand, in the sun, on the beach. There is nothing like relaxing on the beach, watching people getting active in the water. I love watching the jet skies, parachutes, sail boats, and canoes. If you’re really lucky, you’ll have a cool neighbor in chale with all the latest water sport gadgets. Mine has this cool go-kart type that runs on sails. He also has a sail boat and like 3 canoes. He’s an old dude of like 60+, bs mashalla 3alaiha, his age ain’t stopping him from enjoying life.
  • Have a late night BBQ on the beach, watching the sparkeling lights of Shu3aiba Refinery. I’ve been told by my Saudi friends last week, that Shu3aiba is so beautiful; like a gorgeous bride all cleaned up and having a huge mansion right on the beach.
  • A visit to SeaShell Resort in Jlai3a. Enjoy some jet skiing there, other water sports, and a good snack or meal.
  • Spend a day at Movenpick El-Bede3, where you can swim in their amazing pool. I won’t recommend swimming in their sea because of water waste pollution, but their beach is the ideal location for suntanning.
  • Go to Pink Moon for some trendy and stylish fashion shopping.

There are a ton of other things to do in Kuwait. None of your friends will get bored visiting Kuwait. Atleast I hope not.
