Kuwait’s New Badalah on iTunes بدالة الكويت الجديدة على آيتونز

This is a great application, if you happen to experience problems with our beloved local 101 &1808080 operators.

I found this App especially useful when trying to located foreign named places in Kuwait. I can’t say it’s a great app, but it is a whole lot better than 101 or 1808080. Give it a try, especially before you pay the 100 obligatory fils for the 1808080 lousy SMS service. remember, iBadala is free of charge.

You can also add your own venues, which really means: the more people use it, the better it will get.

You can find it here at iBadala’s original website, or here at the iTunes store.

Thank you Noura M. for this lovely App recommendation.

Apple’s new products at its Fall Event

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Apple‘s fall event took place a few hours ago, and as expected, a lot of the additions and improvments were around its iPod devices. Here’s a small recap of the new stuff introduced by Apple in its Fall Event:

  • iPod Touch with 2 cameras, a retina screen, video recording, and Face Time.
  • iPod Nano gets a multitouch screen instead of its scroll wheel, and is half the size of the previous model.
  • iPod shuffle gets back its buttons.
  • iPad with wireless interaction, like printing and streaming.
  • A new Apple TV, that is 75% smaller than the previous model, and at less than half the price.
  • New IOS, Apple’s operating system for all its mobile devices like the iPod, iPad, and iPhone; is coming out this November. This new IOS will allow iPad users to share media via wifi.
  • New iTunes, with interactive social features (called Ping) that resemble features offered by Twitter and Facebook.

Apple’s Fall event is today at 9 p.m.

Apple‘s fall event is starting today, Sep. 1, at 9 p.m. Kuwait local time. There are a few rumors circulating the net about what to expect or not.

Here are some of the likely rumors:

  • OS4 for the iPad (good news, since no multi-tasking is making the iPad annoying to use).
  • New or updated iPod lines, including new iTouch and iPod Nano (bad news for me, I had gotten the new iTouch and iPod nano video when they came out a year ago).
  • New or revamped Apple TV (total crap in my opinion, I haven’t used ,mine one since I got it a year ago).
  • Some improvement on iTunes.

These are some of the less likely rumors:

  • iPad Mini.
  • Improvements over iPhone 4 antennas.
  • Updates on why the white iPhone is still missing.

How to back up or get music from iPod without iTunes

My previous post about getting back your music or videos from iPod\iPad got people confused. Because I had used the word “Free” in the title, it miss led some readers to think I meant to steal music.

However, what I meant was to introduce a new way to get back your music or video (or other people’s) if ever find your self in a position where you can’t use iTunes anymore. Which is the case with me these days after my MacBook died and I had to install a new Hard Disc.

I couldn’t use iTunes anymore, because it meant that all my pictures (the last few ones  that I do have left on the iPad) will get wiped and deleted. I still have to find a way to extract them. But in the mean time, I did manage to get back my music and videos; which was what I was trying to explain in my previous post 😉

Get music from other peoples’ iPods for free

Update: Read this.

You know how every iPod\iPad has to be synced with just one iTunes library? And how it means that you can never get songs or videos you like from your friends’ devices? Well, there is a very simple program that allows you to take what ever music or video you like out of other iPods.

Double Twist is very simple to use (and free). You just run it, connect the iPod, and exit iTunes. Then you take whatever you want from the iPod. Only downside is that the video names are messed up when they appear on your hard disc. But this isn’t a problem after all, because the names do appear correct when you add them back to iTunes.

If you remember, my MacBook died on me last week, which means that I can’t sync my iPod and iPad back with iTunes without losing my huge collection of music and videos. With Double Twist, I was able to get back everything. I added the stuff back to iTunes. This means that I get to sync my devices again and still have everything.

Well, not everything. The playlist ordering is gone along with genius mixes. But that isn’t a problem. I can manually make the list back on iTunes from the listing in the ipod before I sync stuff back.

I’m still not going to sync back at this time, because I haven’t found a way to get my pictures out of the iPad yet. So no syncing for me till I find a way to do that!
