Sheikh Naser Al-Mohammad’s interview on Kuwait TV

Our Prime Minister, Sh. Nasser, went on Kuwait TV and made his first ever public interview.

  • This interview is very important; because it’s one of the few times that a PM does a public interview in Kuwait, and because it gives Sh. Nasser a clear chance to explain his point of view directly to Kuwaitis.
  • The public opinion of Sh. Nasser is that he’s weak and is easily steered and guided away, that he tends to revert to courts to deal with his opposers rather than face their accusations, and that he doesn’t have the capabilities to run the government. All of these have all added to Kuwaitis’ frustration with Sh. Nasser, and to doubt his ability to run the government in these sensitive times.
  • In his interview, he managed to erase a lot of these negative opinions of him.
  • Whether you agree or not with Sh. Nasser; you can’t neglect the confidence he showed, the respectful and strong opinions he had about the constitution and democracy, or his clear intelligence.
  • Have a look at a few articles and editorials I picked up from the local papers this morning to get a feeling of how strong the political arena is reacting to Sh. Nasser’s interview.

Good luck Sh. Nasser, and  thank you for your interview. You have once again proved that Kuwait is truly ahead of others in our region. We can all be proud that we still have an open, free, and safe country; in which can question anyone without fear.

You can watch part 1, part 2, part 3, and part 4 of his interview.

Following is a BB message I got with spoilers about Zwarat 5amees. The show is widely followed in Kuwait and the Gulf (you can watch it at Al-Watan TV and Abu Dhabi TV), and had started amazingly. But now; it got so silly, rediculous, and very typical of Kuwaiti Ramadan mosalsalat.

Vanity Fair’s most influential 100 people

Vanity Fair just published its list of the 100 most influential people in the information age. And you will not believe who is # 1. Let me give you a hint, it’s not Bill Gates, it’s not Steve Jobs… It’s actually the founder of Facebook!!

Here are the top 10, you can read all the rest over at Vanity Fair:

  1. Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook. With 500 million members, it’s not difficult to see why Mark Z is #1.
  2. Steve Jobs of Apple. His huge influence and impact on both the music and smart phone businesses put him at #2.
  3. Sergey Brin, Larry Page, and Eric Schmidt of Google. These 3 guys own the most popular site on the net, and their Android system phones are expected to surpass iPhone by 2012.
  4. Rupert Murdoch of News Corporation. Ownerships include print media, as well as Fox TV & film.
  5. Jeff Bezos of Amazon. Need we say more on why he’s on the list? He single handedly revolutionized online shopping, wether books, ebooks, or Kindle e-reader.
  6. Bernard Arnault of LVMH. He’s the richest man in Europe, and was able to steer the luxury empire in the roughest financial crises in decades.
  7. Michael Bloomberg the Mayor of New York. In addition to his vast fortune, he was able to achieve tremendous success as mayor, with reduced crime and improved education.
  8. Larry Ellison of Oracle. His software practically dominates the world, plus he and 37 other billionairs have promised to donate half their fortunes to charity. Well Done Larry, along with Bill Gates and Warren Buffett.
  9. Evan Williams and Biz Stone of Twitter. With 124 million users and a billion tweets a month, they sure deserve to be on the top 10 list.
  10. John Malone. His media empire includes Expedia and Sirius internet radio among other things.

I know some of my friends will be over the moon with this list. One person in particular is so in love with LV, Expedia, Apple, and Facebook all at once. Knock yourself out with the list R.

Apple’s Fall event is today at 9 p.m.

Apple‘s fall event is starting today, Sep. 1, at 9 p.m. Kuwait local time. There are a few rumors circulating the net about what to expect or not.

Here are some of the likely rumors:

  • OS4 for the iPad (good news, since no multi-tasking is making the iPad annoying to use).
  • New or updated iPod lines, including new iTouch and iPod Nano (bad news for me, I had gotten the new iTouch and iPod nano video when they came out a year ago).
  • New or revamped Apple TV (total crap in my opinion, I haven’t used ,mine one since I got it a year ago).
  • Some improvement on iTunes.

These are some of the less likely rumors:

  • iPad Mini.
  • Improvements over iPhone 4 antennas.
  • Updates on why the white iPhone is still missing.

Oh no, it turns out Shirlena Johnson is not a well woman after all

If you remember this old post of mine, you’ll notice that the video I put was very hilarious and  super funny.

But the sad thing is that it turns out Ms. Shirlena Johnson is not all that well after all, if you know what I mean. What’s even sadder is that The X Factor have removed her from the competition and asked that she go home, for concerns over her mental health.

Steven Tyler Confirmed as American Idol Judge

It seems that it has been confirmed that Steven Tyler is set to be American Idol’s judge. We’re still waiting for the other 2 judges. Jennifer Lopez is officially out, she became such a Diva when making up the agreement, and so no deal was struck with the show to have her on it.

Am I the one one who doesn’t get True Blood?

I must admit, True Blood is a disgusting TV show to watch for me. It features vampires, lots of blood, and is set in a poor place, with nothing beautiful to look at. But it seems that I’m in the minority when it comes to True Blood’s appeal. The show’s craziness is all over the place with a lot of people. Rolling Stones are the latest to put the show on its cover.

I still think that a show has to be comforting in order for me to watch it. I don’t need to be reminded of poverty, ugliness, and hardship. Like a friend always tells me, life is stressful enough as it is.
