API login and authentication failure and log in error for Twitter on BB and iPhone

Are you getting an API login error messages and authentication failure with Twitter? You’re not the only one, and nothing wrong with your twitter account, and the answer is very simple.

Twitter have changed the login method for mobile devices starting Sept 1; on the iPhone, iTouch, Android, BB, iPad starting Sep 1st.  Twitter used to allow 3rd party applicatios to store username and password externally, but they changed that policy, all info will remain with twitter all the time. Applications had plenty of time to adjust, and most work just fine. My tough luck got me Twitterific and the BB’s twitter T, one of the few that didn’t work.

  • If you try to login, it won’t let you. You’ll get the message in the pic above.
  • Every application has to be authorized by you. Problem is the settings tab doesn’t have any applications to approve anyway, even if you wanted to.

After spending a couple of hours searching and reading, I got to the solution:

  • All you have to do is update the applications. It works on all Apple products and BB.
  • Problem is the App store will tell you everything is up to date, so you will have to go around it. What you do on the iPod and iPad is just delete whatever twitter application you’re using, then just install it again from the App store. That’s it.
  • As for the BB, it’s takes just a little bit longer. But really, all you have to do is download the twitter application again, using the browser on your BB. Install it, it’ll ask you if it’s OK to replace the old version. Click OK, restart the phone, and your done.
  • The same principle should apply to Android phones, but I wouldn’t know, I don’t have an Android.

I got everything to work again, but it did give me a much un-needed headache before I figured it out. Here’s Twitter’s support page, it explains the problem, but doesn’t help much with the solution. Problem name is OAuth or something terrible like that. I’m just glad everything works again.

The new iPod nano without camera

I just realized that the new iPod nano that came out yesterday is without the video camera they had with last year’s model. That video camera was HD and just amazing. I guess I don’t have to get the new one after all. What I really want is the new iPod touch, that comes with 2 cameras and face time.

I just love Apple’s cameras. Even without flash, they beat the best phone cameras of any brand.

Vanity Fair just published its list of the 100 most influential people in the information age. And you will not believe who is # 1. Let me give you a hint, it’s not Bill Gates, it’s not Steve Jobs… It’s actually the founder of Facebook!!

Here are the top 10, you can read all the rest over at Vanity Fair:

  1. Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook. With 500 million members, it’s not difficult to see why Mark Z is #1.
  2. Steve Jobs of Apple. His huge influence and impact on both the music and smart phone businesses put him at #2.

Apple’s new products at its Fall Event

Apple‘s fall event took place a few hours ago, and as expected, a lot of the additions and improvments were around its iPod devices. Here’s a small recap of the new stuff introduced by Apple in its Fall Event:

  • iPod Touch with 2 cameras, a retina screen, video recording, and Face Time.
  • iPod Nano gets a multitouch screen instead of its scroll wheel, and is half the size of the previous model.
  • iPod shuffle gets back its buttons.
  • iPad with wireless interaction, like printing and streaming.
  • A new Apple TV, that is 75% smaller than the previous model, and at less than half the price.
  • New IOS, Apple’s operating system for all its mobile devices like the iPod, iPad, and iPhone; is coming out this November. This new IOS will allow iPad users to share media via wifi.
  • New iTunes, with interactive social features (called Ping) that resemble features offered by Twitter and Facebook.

Apple’s Fall event is today at 9 p.m.

Apple‘s fall event is starting today, Sep. 1, at 9 p.m. Kuwait local time. There are a few rumors circulating the net about what to expect or not.

Here are some of the likely rumors:

  • OS4 for the iPad (good news, since no multi-tasking is making the iPad annoying to use).
  • New or updated iPod lines, including new iTouch and iPod Nano (bad news for me, I had gotten the new iTouch and iPod nano video when they came out a year ago).
  • New or revamped Apple TV (total crap in my opinion, I haven’t used ,mine one since I got it a year ago).
  • Some improvement on iTunes.

These are some of the less likely rumors:

  • iPad Mini.
  • Improvements over iPhone 4 antennas.
  • Updates on why the white iPhone is still missing.

A friend of mine was asking me yesterday about a good iPad cover in Kuwait, preferably one what can act like a stand too. Ramadan TV shows & mosalsalat Apple application just got cheaper

I had posted earlier about this cool Mosalsalat Ramadan application in Apple’s App Store, which was selling for $1.99.

I was checking the app store again this morning, when I noticed that the price came down to $.99. I guess they reduced the price after Ramadan started, lucky us.
